The first thing people want to know when looking for a storage unit is what size of space will be best for their belongings. They might be looking online for a local storage facility, or they may visit a local company to see units for themselves. Whatever the case may be, it’s important to know what size will be ideal before you rent a space and find that it’s too big or too small. At EZ Storage® in Detroit, we have a variety of unit sizes available, and we’ll gladly help you choose the right one. In this blog, we’ll look at a few of the various sizes and how many things they can hold.

5’x5’ Unit

dreamstime_xxl_30688866The 5’x5’ unit is the smallest space we offer, and it’s comparable to a small closet in your house. With only 25 square feet, you can fit a few small pieces of furniture, a couple of boxes, and perhaps a kid’s or twin mattress set. You’ll want to be selective about what you store, since you can fill up a 5’x5’ space very quickly.

10’x10’ Unit

One hundred square feet provides quite a bit of storage space, and you’ll be able to store some larger items in one of our 10’x10’ units. If you have a desk, some appliances, and a bedroom set you need to store, this size could be the perfect option. It’s comparable to a small bedroom, so if you think of it in those terms, you can determine what all you can store in your rented space.

10’x20’ Unit

As one of our larger size options, the 10’x20’ unit is similar to a one-car garage. Two hundred square feet provides quite a bit of storage space, and if you’re able to stack boxes and other items, you can fit quite a bit in a unit this size. If you’re remodeling several rooms in your house and you need to put a piano, large pieces of furniture, and some appliances into storage, this is likely the best option for you.

10’x30’ Unit

This is the largest unit that we offer, and it’s great when you need to store nearly everything you own. If you have a three- or four-bedroom house, everything you put into boxes, all the furniture you own, and your appliances should fit into this space. It can also be ideal if you need to store a vehicle for a few months.

Our Detroit-area storage facilities have these unit sizes and more available in both standard and climate-controlled formats. We will gladly explain the differences between the two (as well as the pricing), and help you make the best decision for your things. Above all, we want you to feel confident that you made the right choice.

If you need self-storage, stop by one of our locations today. Our knowledgeable staff will show you all of the units we have available, and with our monthly lease options, you can find storage for the time you need.

We look forward to helping you!
